Updated · 2 sites live, 1 opening October 2026

Brite runs two live rapid charging sites in Galway city, with a third on the Headford Road opening in October 2026. Both live sites are open 24 hours, take any contactless card, and are monitored around the clock from a desk in Galway. The live map reads bay status straight from the chargers, so you can see what is free before you set off.

Galway Retail Park

Beside Currys Superstore, off the Headford Road. The easiest site to reach if you are coming into the city on the M6 from Athlone or Dublin, and the one to use if you want shops and food within a two-minute walk while you charge.

Getting to a Brite site from each direction

Full turn-by-turn detail for each approach, with realistic timings and what to do while you charge, is in our Galway city charging route guide. Arriving from the capital? See driving Dublin to Galway in an EV.

Heading further west

Rapid charging thins out considerably beyond Galway city. If you are continuing into Connemara, out to Clifden, or north into Mayo, it is worth leaving Galway with a full battery rather than counting on a bay at the other end — the night rate makes a pre-departure top-up the cheapest way to do it.

Something wrong at a bay?

Open Ask Brite from any page and choose "Report a fault". It knows the live state of every bay and most problems are resolved in under two minutes without anyone picking up a phone. Anything it cannot fix reaches the team in Galway, who monitor the network 24/7. Urgent? Ring +353 91 355 823.

The live map reads bay availability straight from the chargers at both Galway sites.
