How Brite Ultra Accelerates Fleet Electrification in Galway & the West
Hi I’m Colin Barry, founder @ Brite.
We are delighted to be seeing progress on our new EV charge site at Sandy Road and we will be doing a number of blog posts for our customers and potential customers in the coming months. As a motor industry executive I always struggled to match a van manufacturer’s product capabilities with that of a local sales team. The sales guys and girls will sell what they understand, what is easy, and EVs have not been so straight forward for the SIMI members. We in Galway and the wider West are witnessing rapid change and huge growth and we have to try and understand that growth. With increasing regulation, rising fuel costs, and growing ESG demands, corporate fleets—delivery, public transport, heavy goods—are looking for reliable, efficient, and sustainable charging options. This is especially critical where downtime can carry high costs, routes are long, and reliability is everything.
Yet many companies face challenges: inconsistent charger availability, delays because of inadequate infrastructure, lack of secure payment systems, or limited flexibility in invoicing or digital control. Add in constraints of turning space, clearance, and 24/7 reliability—and many charging sites simply don’t meet corporate needs. I had the fortune to meet a Mercedes Actros parked sideways across our Galway Retail Park site in the middle of the day. The client who had been testing it had not planned what they were going to do when the battery ran out of charge in the middle of Galway city and what ensued was a tricky, potentially highly charged conversation with car customers queuing for a charge at the site. They moved, and then we moved, and created a pure EV charge hub.
Our plans for Brite Ultra Sandy Road, located next to Sheils Motor Group and Europcar Galway
Enter Brite Ultra, located on Sandy Road, Galway City. With 1MWh of installed power, this hub enables ultra-rapid 300 kW DC chargers alongside 22 kW AC units, so multiple vehicles—cars, vans, buses, HGVs—can charge simultaneously with minimal wait. The site is built with large turning circles and high-clearance bays, ideal for bus and HGV access. Security is active around the clock, and payment options are flexible: card, app payments with instant receipts, and corporate invoicing, which simplifies accounting and expense tracking.
For businesses, the benefits are clear. Operational costs drop as electric vehicles are cheaper to run and maintain. Predictability improves—you know your energy usage, your invoices, and you can plan routes around charger availability. Environmentally, switching reduces carbon emissions and helps you meet Climate Action Plan goals, which many corporate partners now require for contracts or ESG reporting.
Consider a regional West of Ireland, midlands delivery company that switches 20 vans to EVs. With reduced fuel bills, fewer maintenance needs, and ability to use ultra-rapid chargers that don’t delay turnaround, they see savings over petrol or diesel. Add to that improved public image because of green credentials, easier compliance with emissions-focused regulation, and it becomes a smart investment.
If you're leading a corporate fleet, bus company, or transport operator, Brite Ultra is more than a charger hub—it’s a partner in change. With state-of-the-art charging, flexible payments, and infrastructure built for scale and reliability, your business can switch with confidence. Contact us to discuss fleet plans, see sample cost savings, and explore how electrification can accelerate your operations in Galway and the West.
For our manufacturer friends, we can even host your EV sales event at our site with our Hotel partners adjacent to the site, allowing for Ultra Rapid real time charging demonstrations and test drives. Contact me and we will have a coffee to discuss - Colin@brite.ie
